HOW TO CHANGE YOUR ‘BAD’ EATING HABITS AND LOSE WEIGHT PERMANENTLY?
How many times have you tried to eat better and exercise, cutting all your favourite ‘naughty’ foods out (chocolate, crisps, fast foods, etc) just to get back to it after just few weeks?
Why you cannot have a body like all these top models or movie starts, who seem not to have any issues with their body weight?
The reason may be that you just try too hard and are too harsh to yourself!
Food is very addictive these days. Food corporations kind of do it on purpose to increase their sales. Adding our busy lifestyle to it, it is very easy to get hooked on treats and fast foods. All that taste so good, right?
So, if food is addiction this is how it should be treated? With compassion and understanding.
The problem is that if you try to stop eating the food that makes you feel so good, you start adding lots of stress to your already stressful life. That will make your nervous system do anything to protect you from any harm that stress can do to your body. As a result, you will be fighting against every single cell in your body making it really impossible to win.
Therefore, constant vigilance is not a solution. Any increase in fear and anxiety is unproductive, even if the stress is supposed to help end the habit. We should trust nature more! Your body will get back to balance if you treat it correctly!
So, listen to your body and start slow changes. Start with deciding what type of person you want to be, what food you want to enjoy, how you will spend your free time, were you will be buying your clothes and how you will feel wearing them. Make sure you write it all down and read it at least once a day.
Then start eating more nutritious foods and adding some gentle activity to your daily routine. You should not ‘jump’ into changing everything at once but prepare a step by step plan.
Remember that you must leave the past behind, you decided not to be that person who stuffs the face with too much food when no one looks. You are not that person anymore so don’t live it over and over again or remind yourself of it. Start spending more time with healthy, sporty people. You may join a small gym, where you can be a part of a community (or a sports club or our online live classes) and avoid anyone who may have any negative influence on you. You are a new person, someone who you always wanted to be, someone you respect, and love and you will start treating your body with love and respect!
Finally, it is normal to have relapses as you are making these changes. You will be disappointed, but you must not see it as a personal failure! It takes time for body to normalise itself. Be patient and allow yourself to emerge in freedom.
Measure your success with the signs of self-acceptance, happiness, moments of joy and pleasure, healthy appetite and love of healthy, nutritious food, better sleep, calmer dreams, increased physical strength and endurance, lack of bad odours in the mouth and skin, less sweating and so on.
All of these will come in time. The great way of living healthier, cleaner life is that the body loves to be that way. It is a natural process that will bring greater results the longer it continues. Temporary relapses are little more than minor obstacles, as long as you are willing to get back up and try again! You are already building your healthier, lighter, more energetic body with every step you take!
