#53: Christmas present ideas for an active mum

Christmas is round the corner and our house smells like a Christmas tree and cinnamon (mainly due to cinnamon aromatherapy oil).

Christmas is a time for giving and receiving. But it isn’t always easy to come up with a present that will make the other person smile.

So if you’re still trying to figure out what to get for an active mum, here are some ideas:

Hat or head band

Hats and head bands are so in fashion now. You can buy an everyday one or an active one that is perfect for running. Get the warm one for someone who lives in a climate with cold winters and a thinner one for warmer places. Personally I would not like to have a hat with a Christmas theme but if the receiver loves everything Christmas then you can consider getting one. If you don’t know which colour is best go with classic cream, grey or black. These fit all outfits.

Water bottle or a drinking glass with a lid and a straw

There are so many beautiful glass water bottles and glasses out there that fit all budgets. They are not only trendy but also practical and healthy. It’s very handy to have a glass with a lid and a straw as kids like drinking parents’ drinks. Less spillage means less cleaning and less cloths changing. Staying hydrated improves energy and mood. I call it a win-win present.

Mugs

I think everyone likes mugs. There are so many wonderful ones out there with different inspirational quotes. You may still be able to order a personalised one but for that really hurry up and do it immediately. I once got a mug with writing “Half Full” and I loved it. I smiled every time I had my coffee (I broke it and couldn’t find a replacement anywhere). Because I am quite peculiar about my mugs (I don’t like all mug shapes) I recommend you to get a similar shape to the ones that person you’re buying it for, has in their cupboard.

Cosy slippers or socks

One can never have too many socks and slippers. Warm cosy socks are a perfect gift for someone who doesn’t have underfloor heating or someone who always has always cold feet. Winter or Christmas themes are perfect. Optionally you may consider getting skiing, snowboarding, running or hiking socks if they may come handy, i.e. if the receiver of your present skis. When it comes to slippers there is so many different options. I have a pair of “grey dog” slippers, with ears, eyes and a nose and I love them in the winter.

Bath salt or bath bombs

They are a perfect present for someone who has a bath. As a mum I am often to busy or too tired to have a bath but there are a few times a year (like yesterday) when I treat myself with 20 minutes of luxury peace and quiet. Warm baths are particularly nice in the winter. What to pay attention to? If the mum you’re getting it for uses only natural cosmetics make sure you get the natural bath salts. Otherwise the choice is unlimited. There are so many different shapes and scents out there, including chocolate ones.

Recipe book

I like cooking and I am very creative in the kitchen. But there are days when I feel uninspired. Those days I cook with a recipe book. As a busy and tired mum I love quick, simple, delicious and healthy meals for the whole family. I have one of Joe Wicks books and I love it. I don’t really follow his program, I just use the recipes and I love it. But there are many quick recipe books, even Jamie Oliver has one. Don’t buy Joe Wicks’ book for someone who is sensitive about her body weight, as woman we tend to overthink presents like that. Instead google 15 min recipe books and choose the one that fits best, i.e. vegetarian one for someone who doesn’t eat meat.

Good luck and enjoy choosing the presents. in the end, giving is often more rewarding than receiving. Don’t forget it isn’t about the price of the present. It is about remembering and putting an effort into finding a present that will make the other person both surprised and happy.

With Love,

Karo
